Tower Works Consultation:
The mixed use proposals provide an exciting opportunity to introduce a unique offering to this area of the city centre. The proposals will also include ground floor commercial uses and extensive new public realm, which will integrate with neighbouring developments to provide a pleasant pedestrian route between the Holbeck Urban Village neighbourhood and the wider city centre.
The proposals follow the grant of planning permission in 2015, which has been subject to further design development and refinement to ensure that the optimal development is delivered for the site.
Tower Works is a 1.13 hectare site located within Holbeck Urban Village, between Leeds city centre to the north, and the communities of Holbeck and Beeston Hill to the south, priority neighbourhoods in the Leeds Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy. Holbeck has a rich industrial heritage and was the Victorian manufacturing heart of Leeds. Although almost all of the manufacturing industries have vacated the area, many buildings of the era still remain and are being reinvigorated alongside homes, recreation and industry of the modern day.
The Tower Works site is a key development within the area, located on the northern edge of Holbeck Urban Village, bordering the south of the city centre and forming an important part of Leeds’ skyline.
