Leopold Square

Sheffield City Centre

What:

Sympathetic restoration of a collection of Grade II listed buildings to create a new quality leisure destination in the heart of Sheffield.

Why:

Identified by the public sector as one of the “magnificent seven” transformational regeneration projects designed to reposition the economic, physical and cultural landscape of Sheffield.

How:

Ask and M J Gleeson were appointed to deliver a high quality, leisure and residential destination and is an example of public:private partnership working at its very best which achieved the transformation and delivery of a group of derelict city centre Victorian buildings into a scheme of undoubted quality and design.  This intimate space with a strong identity and sense of place has had a huge impact on social and economic benefits for the city.

We created:

  • The Leopold – 4* boutique hotel
  • 9 bar/restaurants
  • 42 loft style apartments
  • A new tree lined public square with water feature
