What:

Improved District Centre for Gorton. 

Why:

To replace the derelict 1960s style precinct and provide facilities better suited to modern day shopping, benefiting local traders and residents and boosting the local economy. 

How:

Manchester City Council appointed Ask to work in partnership to deliver a much improved District Centre to replace the derelict 1960s style precinct.  20,000 sq ft of retail space was created including a Tesco Extra Superstore with 584 space car park and petrol station. The scheme included 10 new shop units and the market hall, housing all the existing traders from Gorton Market, and provided a much needed boost to the local economy.
