101 Embankment

Manchester City Centre

What:

First phase of a two phased Grade A office development to reposition Salford’s civic centre.

Why:

A strategic priority within Salford’s regeneration framework and a critical element to bring about the renaissance of the wider Greengate neighbourhood.

How:

In a joint venture led by Ask and in partnership with Salford City Council and Network Rail, 101 Embankment is the first phase of a mixed-use scheme comprising offices, car parking and retail/leisure opportunities.  The generous floor plates and genuine sense of arrival up Cathedral Approach appealed to Swinton Insurance Group who chose the building for their Headquarters prior to completion.  The development is complemented by Greengate Square where ample seating, water fountains and feature lighting provide the backdrop to a range of city events.

We created:

  • Grade A headquarter office building
  • 442 space car park operated by Q-Park
  • Sainsbury’s Local
  • Small office suite and ancillary retail
